Mindset Moment of the Week – MLK

by PJ McClure on January 16, 2011

I decided to jump my own rules and jump out of this week for our Mindset Moment.

I want you to consider the Mindset it requires to look at a 400 year-old injustice and decide, "Enough!"

How much Vision, Purpose, and Belief does it take to shoulder the burden of an entire race and carry it to the very doorstep of the oppressor? What happens when your Awareness of the danger you’re in is surpassed only by your willingness to Forgive those that hate you for no reason other than their own ignorance? Would you be able to find Gratitude in possibility and take Action on your hope?

These are the elements Martin Luther King Jr. possessed as he led a movement that was long overdue and but resisted by those in political power. There is little I can write about about him as a man because I didn’t know him and I can only marvel at his prowess as a revolutionary. More than three decades later and I stand in awe of the courage, focus, and faith with which he infused a nation.

The Civil Rights movement shapes how we live today and continues to carry into the future, but I want to open your eyes to more. We live among movements waiting for a leader. Causes seeking a champion. When you have your Mindset right and a cause crosses your path, you’ll know it’s time. Keep your eyes open for your opportunity to change the world.

Be your best,

PJ McClure
